JOLIET — Two members of the Joliet community were arrested by the Joliet police late Friday night in connection with allegations that each of them became violent with the city's police officers responsible for pulling them over.

Joliet police said that 54-year-old Antione Hill was given his notice to appear at the Will County Courthouse on two charges of obstructing a peace officer, two counts of resisting a peace officer and driving while his license is revoked.

As for 33-year-old Ashley Jones, she, too, was given a notice to appear in Will County's court system and her charges are more serious: aggravated battery to a peace officer, two counts of obstructing a peace officer, two counts of resisting a peace officer and driving while license suspended.

Joliet police spokesman Dwayne English said that the following set of events happened on Friday at 11:32 p.m.

According to English: the officers saw a Ford F-150 squeal its tires while turning southbound onto Center Street from eastbound Campbell Street. A Buick following the truck ran the stop sign at the same intersection.

The officers stopped both vehicles in the 200 block of Center Street. The truck's driver, Hill, exited the vehicle and walked toward a house, ignoring the officers' commands. When officers tried to arrest him, Hill resisted and refused to be handcuffed, Joliet police advised.

During the struggle, the Buick's driver, Jones, exited her vehicle and tried to block officers from arresting Hill. After Hill was taken into custody, Jones struck an officer in the arm and also resisted arrest before being handcuffed, English pointed out.

Hill was cited for squealing tires, disobeying a stop sign, operating an uninsured vehicle, and driving with a revoked license. Jones was cited for disobeying a stop sign, operating an uninsured vehicle, illegal transportation of alcohol, and driving with a suspended license. Both vehicles were towed, English advised.
