Hundreds Protest In Hands Off! Rally In San Ramon

SAN RAMON, CA — Hundreds of protesters gathered along Bollinger Canyon Road outside San Ramon City Hall Saturday for a Hands Off! rally protesting Trump administration policies. The nationwide day of protest also saw

The San Ramon rally was organized by Indivisible Tri-Valley, a local progressive activist organization, in collaboration with national and local organizations. The group has also organized protests at the Tesla dealership in Dublin, and against proposed plans to turn the former FCI Dublin into an ICE detention facility.

"We refuse to stand by while the very foundations of our democracy are undermined for corporate greed and political gain. We will not be silent as our rights and resources are stripped away," the group said in a statement. "Alongside Americans across the country, we are marching, rallying, and protesting to demand a stop the chaos and build an opposition movement against the looting of our country."

The rally, which lasted from 12 to 1:30 p.m. Saturday, was led by Qu'in de a Noche, a local burlesque performer, and featured a number of local leaders, including:

  • Marisol Rubio, San Ramon City Councilmember and former president of the Dublin-San Ramon Services District
  • Laura Bratt, member of the San Ramon Valley Board of Education
  • Rev. Todd Atkins-Whitley, senior pastor at Danville Congregational Church
  • Rabbi Dr. Laurence Milder, rabbi at Congregation Beth Emek in Pleasanton
  • Lilia Lara, a small business owner and immigrant from Mexico
