PLAINFIELD, IL — A Plainfield woman was taken into custody Nov. 13 after police said she battered a family member and threatened them with a loaded gun.

Qwandra Drummer, 48, was charged with aggravated domestic battery and aggravated assault with a firearm after the incident at about 11:10 a.m. West Wheat Drive, police said.

Plainfield officers were called to the residence for a report of a domestic disturbance involving a gun. Following an investigation, police determined the altercation happened after a family member began searching a garbage bag and backpack that Drummer had set on the porch to make sure items that belonged to them weren't being taken from the house, Cmdr. Anthony Novak told Patch.

As the person searched, Drummer physically battered them, according to Novak.

"The altercation ended only after another family member intervened," Novak said, adding that while being confronted, Drummer pointed a gun at family members, verbally threatening to use it.

Police recovered the gun, as well as four other loaded firearms and multiple boxes of ammunition, from the garbage bag on the porch.

Drummer was placed under arrest and taken to the Will County jail, where she was held until Nov. 15, when she was released following a court appearance.

Jail records list Drummer as being charged with four misdemeanors — domestic battery and three counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
