Employee Threatened Manager With Bread Knife, Tongs In Secaucus Restaurant, Police Say
SECAUCUS, NJ — An employee at Lahore restaurant in Secaucus got into an argument with the manager last Thursday night, Oct. 30, and the employee threatened the manager with food tongs and a butter knife, said Secaucus Police.
The employee was arrested.
Shortly after 9 p.m. Thursday, police were called to Lahore, a Pakistani restaurant in the center of Secaucus.
Police say a manager at Lahore and a recent employee in training had gotten into an argument over the man's paycheck. The two men became engaged in a verbal dispute, which escalated and "the employee grabbed a large pair of tongs and threatened the manager. After he placed the tongs down, he grabbed a butter knife and threatened the manager," said Secaucus Police.
The employee, Nishant Sapkota 32, of Philadelphia, PA was arrested and charged with Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose [2C:39-4D], specifically food tongs, Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose [2C:39-4D], specifically a Straight Edge Knife, Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose [2C:39-4D], specifically a butter knife, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon [2C:39-5D], specifically food tongs, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon [2C:39-5D], specifically a straight-edge knife, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon [2C:39-5D], specifically a butter knife and Terroristic Threats [2C:12-3B].
Sapkota was issued his complaint summons and was released from police custody.
