Destruction At Joliet Public Library In Downtown Joliet Caused By Daybreak Shelter Resident: Police
JOLIET, IL — It's not uncommon to see the Joliet police officers responding to the downtown Joliet Public Library for various incidents several days a week. At a recent City Council meeting, community activist Trista Graves Brown revealed that a man who was thrown out of the library after Joliet police were called, then tried to abduct her, as she was pulling her wagon right outside the library, along Clinton Street.
Last week, as a result of an incident inside the library on Oct. 26, Joliet police have obtained an arrest warrant for Alexia Payton, whose address is listed as 611 East Cass, the Daybreak Shelter operated by Catholic Charities.
According to the criminal complaint, Payton is charged with criminal damage to government supported property. She is accused of damaging the interior door of the Joliet Public Library at 150 N. Ottawa Street and the damage to the property was $500 or less.
Payton has yet to be captured by the Joliet police as of Friday. Her arrest warrant indicates that she is 32 years old.
