
The woman convicted in a deadly Omaha crash was arrested for leaving Nebraska and going to Missouri, violating her probation. On Thursday, Judge Peter Battalion in Douglas County ruled that Lorena Lara-Diaz can serve her post-release supervision in Missouri.Family and friends of Gary Mangiameli are disappointed with the court's decision but not surprised.The overall feeling from the family today was frustration. More than 30 friends and supporters of the victim filled the courtroom.Two years have passed since Gary Mangiameli was struck on his motorcycle and killed by Lorena Lara Diaz."He was like the glue to our family, and he's gone. She killed him," said his sister, Tracy Mangimeli. The Mangiamelis are feeling like the Nebraska court system has forgotten about the victim,"They are catering to her and her family. Never mind the American veteran that was lost." said the mother to multiple of his children, Rachael Diaz.On Thursday, Lara-Diaz appeared in court after violating her post-release supervision.The Mangiamelis packed the courtroom hoping to bring justice to their loved one but came into sentencing with low expectations.
