A 17-year-old has been charged with robbery and attempted murder of a teen near a West Ridge soccer game.
The shooting happened on Sunday, July 13 around 5:15 p.m. in the 2100-block of West Granville Avenue, Chicago police said.
A 17-year-old boy was shot and had critical injuries.
Chicago police were trying to determine the motive behind the shooting.
Police originally reported the shooting as a potential armed robbery, but ABC7 spoke to a mother and other witnesses on scene who said the teen was shot over a dispute during a soccer match among kids.
More than a month later, police announced they arrested and charged a 17-year-old in the shooting.
The suspect's identity was not released since he is a minor.
The 17-year-old was arrested on Monday in the 5900-block of N. Glenwood Avenue in Magnolia Glen, police said.
He had been charged with attempted murder in the first degree, aggravated battery and once felony count of armed robbery.
No other information was available.
