A father is grieving after authorities say a woman killed their two sons and her grandmother in an apparent murder-suicide.

Jeremiah Thompson said he was trying hard to keep his composure during a memorial held for his four family members.

Police believe Heather Thompson shot her three family members before taking her own life on Friday in Waverly, Tennessee.

The victims were identified as 4-year-old Arius Thompson, 13-year-old Isaiah Johnson, and 88-year-old Evelyn Johnson, the Humphreys County Sheriff Department said.

Arius was described as a happy child who loved to ride his tricycle and play with his big brother.

Isaiah was described as a great student who enjoyed playing sports, the trumpet, and was passionate about video games.

Jeremiah was technically his stepfather, but he said he has been in his life since he was a baby.

The sheriff said that Heather Thompson allegedly shot and killed the three victims before taking her own life.
