Video captures chaos as Irving Park, Chicago GameStop smash-and-grab suspect hits police officer with car, leading to shots fired

Body camera video released on Tuesday revealed the chaos Chicago police officers faced while responding to a smash-and-grab burglary on the Northwest Side last month.

It happened near a GameStop in the Irving Park neighborhood's 2900-block of West Addison Street around 4:26 a.m. on Aug. 7.

Police said when officers arrived on the scene, the armed suspects got into their vehicles and drove off, hitting an officer in the process. That officer fired their gun.

No one was hit by gunfire, and the officer was not seriously hurt.

Those suspects are still not in custody.
