U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement said officers and their federal partners were assaulted during a raid at an Omaha plant Tuesday. READ MORE: What we know: Immigration raid reported at plant in OmahaIn a statement sent to KETV, ICE acting Director Todd Lyons said, "Yesterday, an illegal alien from Honduras brandished a weapon and assaulted federal agents and officers who were doing their job: protecting American citizens, the public and businesses who are being victimized through identity fraud."More than 70 workers were detained when ICE officers and their federal partners executed a federal search warrant at the Glenn Valley Foods plant, according to Tanya Roman, an ICE spokesperson. In a press release, Roman said some of those detained had active local warrants, prior DUI convictions and had been previously deported. "Many may now face additional federal charges," said Roman.
