University Village, Chicago shooting today: Boy, 15, killed in drive-by shooting in 1300-block of West Grenshaw Street, police say

A teenage boy was shot to death on a West Side sidewalk on Friday afternoon, Chicago police said.

Police said the drive-by shooting happened in the University Village neighborhood's 1300-block of West Grenshaw Street around 4:15 p.m.

A 15-year-old boy was standing on the sidewalk when a vehicle pulled up, and someone inside fired shots, police said.

The victim, shot in the chest and leg, was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Area Three detectives are investigating.

Police did not immediately provide further information about the shooting.
