The Trump administration has launched an investigation into alleged antisemitism at all 22 campuses of the California State University System.
The federal Equal Employment Opportunity Commission subpoenaed the university to provide the personal phone numbers and email addresses of every employee.
The CSU sent a statement to Eyewitness News confirming the filed complaint, saying it will fully cooperate with the EEOC.
"The CSU unequivocally condemns antisemitism and continues to comply with longstanding federal and state anti-discrimination laws as well as CSU policies," read the statement. "The CSU is committed to fostering an inclusive, respectful, and supportive learning and working environment for all members of our community."
The investigation comes after a wave of on-campus protests on Israel's war in Gaza last year.
The Department of Education is also looking into allegations of racial discrimination over the system's involvement with a nonprofit that helps students from underrepresented groups earn doctoral degrees in business.
"This claim is based on allegations of racial discrimination due to the CSU's interactions with the PhD Project, a private, non-profit organization with the goal of diversifying business education and the corporate workforce," read CSU's statement. "Until 2024, the CSU participated in the PhD Project to share faculty job postings on their job board and increase awareness of career opportunities at CSU campuses. However - consistent with the policy the CSU strictly follows in all cases - no student or applicant for CSU employment was given any preferential treatment based on race, national origin or any other protected characteristic."
