Teen shot, killed in front of church, 2 others injured in North Philadelphia

Police are investigating a possible triple shooting after they said a teenage boy was shot and killed in front of a church Friday morning in North Philadelphia.

Two other teens, who were possibly at the scene, showed up at a hospital in a private vehicle with gunshot wounds, police said.

Police said the shooting happened just before 2 a.m. Friday at N. 18th and W. Huntington streets.

Officers don't know the identity of the teen who was shot and killed, but said he looked young and was possibly mid to late teens.

Police and medics said they found the teen on the sidewalk in front of a church with gunshot wounds to his head.

Medics rushed him to Temple University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead a few minutes later.

Action News was told the shooting was captured on city-owned real time crime cameras.

Police said the victim was seen walking with two other males on Huntington Street when shots were fired and then those two males ran away.

About 30 minutes later, police said two teenagers showed up at St. Christopher's Hospital for Children in a private vehicle.

"We know one victim is 16 years of age and he's suffering from a gunshot wound to his leg," said Chief Inspector Scott Small. "The second victim, who appears to be a juvenile, was suffering from a gunshot wound to his back and his leg. That second victim is unconscious. He's unresponsive. So he's being worked on by doctors at the hospital."

Police said the dark colored sedan the teens showed up in at St. Chris' matched the one seen leaving the location of the shooting and that officers are working to determine exactly where they were.

The back window was shattered when they arrived at the ER, officials said.

"It appears the vehicle is in stolen status,"Small said. "It's not reported stolen at this time, but there's a screwdriver in the ignition."

Police said they don't know the exact age or name of the teen who was shot and killed and are working to identify him.
