Teen hospitalized after shooting near busy North Philadelphia intersection

A 15-year-old boy is undergoing surgery after being shot late Thursday morning near the intersection of 5th Street and Olney Avenue in North Philadelphia, according to sources.

The shooting occurred just before noon in a busy area that includes a SEPTA bus stop. Sources say the teen was shot at least once in the stomach.

Surveillance video reportedly captured the incident.

The alleged shooter, accompanied by another male, is seen firing toward the victim from a distance of about six feet, sources said.

After being shot, the teen appeared to run to a house on Lawrence Street, which runs parallel to 5th Street.

Police canvassed nearby businesses for additional surveillance footage. Investigators have not yet determined where the teen was headed at the time of the shooting.

The investigation is ongoing.
