The teen accused of shooting San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Ricky Pearsall will be tried as a juvenile, a judge ruled Friday morning.
At the time of the shooting, the juvenile was 17 years old. He is now 18.
The attorney with the city's District Attorney's office had initially requested for the court to grant a "707 transfer hearing" that would officially move the case from a juvenile court to an adult criminal court.

The Public Defender's attorney said the teen is a product of childhood trauma, neglect and the foster care system, saying that the now 18-year-old has graduated high school is a respectful student and is enrolled in college urging the judge to believe the teen has shown the ability to rehabilitate.
On Friday, the judge died the DA's request, saying she wanted to give him a chance at redemption "and never hurt another human being again."
There will be another hearing next Wednesday to review the charges.
