Suspects charged in alleged Michigan anti-LGBTQ+ Halloween terror plot eyed attack on 2024 Chicago Pride Parade: Documents

Chicago's Pride Parade last year was eyed as a possible place for a terror attack.

Court documents revealed suspects in a Michigan terror plot posted in a social media platform for ISIS supporters and mentioned conducting a possible attack on the 2024 Chicago Pride Parade.

The post said "we will be attacking the Chicago pride parade with a backpack."

The details were included in an amended criminal complaint filed against suspects in a Halloween terror plot in Michigan.

The suspects were arrested before any attack happened . Those suspects were formally indicted this week.

Investigators are now saying they believe those suspects had been scouting possible attacks on the LGBTQ+ community for some time ahead of the Michigan incident, and had looked at Chicago.

Chicago police shared a statement with ABC7, saying, "The Chicago Police Department is a long- standing member of the Joint Terrorism Task Force (JTTF) and is in daily communication with its members from local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies. CPD takes every threat seriously and puts measures in place to ensure public safety."

ABC7 has reached out to Pride Parade organizers for comment but have not heard back yet.
