Court records obtained by KCRA 3 reveal new details about the financial troubles of accused gunman Dakota Hawver, who was ordered just last week to pay increased child support for his 4-year-old daughter. These revelations come as the community grapples with the aftermath of a tragic shooting outside the Grand Sierra Resort early Monday.According to court documents, the Nevada Attorney General’s office had initiated a case against Hawver more than a year ago. During a hearing last week, a judge raised Hawver’s monthly child support payment from $103 to $582, reflecting his reported income of $21 per hour for a 40-hour workweek.Additionally, the court established a payment plan for Hawver to address $5,575 in unpaid child support and genetic testing costs, pointing to a significant financial burden he had been ordered to resolve. This legal update unfolded just days before a horrifying shooting that claimed three lives. On Wednesday, the Washoe County Medical Examiner's office confirmed that all three victims died from gunshot wounds and classified the deaths as homicides. According to the Medical Examiner, 66-year-old Angel Martinez of Sparks, Nevada and 33-year-old Justin B. Aguila, of Chatsworth, California, were both declared dead at the shooting scene. Andrew C. Canepa, 33, of Newbury Park, California, was transported to Renown Regional Medical Center, where he died during emergency surgery. Aguila and Canepa were waiting for a ride to the airport after attending a bachelor's party when they were shot. Martinez was driving through the airport when law enforcement said he was ambushed.Law enforcement engaged Hawver during the incident, leading to a police shooting that left him critically injured. Investigators are working to find his motive and have not linked him to any of the victims or the casino itself.See more coverage of top California stories here | Download our app | Subscribe to our morning newsletter | Find us on YouTube here and subscribe to our channel
