Son of former rap executive Eugene 'Big U' Henley killed in South Los Angeles shooting

A man who was killed on Halloween night in South Los Angeles has been identified as the son of a former rap executive and alleged former gang leader.

Jabari Henley, 34, is the son of Eugene Henley, commonly known as "Big U."

Eugene Henley once managed Nipsey Hussle, among other rappers, and is alleged to be the former leader of the notorious Rollin' 60s Neighborhood Crips street gang.

His son, known as "Baby Ulie," was shot and killed Saturday night near Figueroa and 69th Street after he walked up to a vehicle outside of a smoke shop, the Los Angeles Police Department told ABC News.

Jabari was found on the sidewalk suffering from multiple gunshot wounds before he was pronounced dead. The suspects fled and no arrests have been made.

Earlier this year, Jabari's father was named in a 43-count federal indictment for allegedly running a mafia-like empire in South L.A. and Las Vegas. He was also accused of being linked to a 2021 murder of an aspiring rapper.

A motive for Saturday's shooting is unclear, but the LAPD added that Eugene's alleged gang ties are a major part of the investigation.
