WINDSOR, CT — Windsor police say the suspect in a weekend shooting at a Windsor restaurant has not yet been arrested in Connecticut and remains in New York while extradition paperwork is processed.
The shooting
Police said officers found a man on the kitchen floor with a gunshot wound to the abdomen. The victim was taken to a hospital and rushed into surgery. He was later listed in stable but serious condition.
Investigators said a witness provided a description of the suspect and the vehicle involved. That information was shared with police departments across the Northeast.
New York State Police later stopped a vehicle believed to be connected to the case. Windsor police confirmed that the suspect remains in New York and has not been arrested by Windsor police.
According to an email from Windsor police, New York courts have not yet completed the paperwork needed to return the suspect to Connecticut. Police said the earliest that could happen is next week.
Because the suspect has not been arrested or charged in Connecticut, police said they are not releasing the suspect's name. The name will be released once the suspect is returned to Connecticut and formally charged.
The investigation remains ongoing.
