Shooting deaths of teen and 2 adults at Lakewood home confirmed as murder-suicide, councilman says

A triple shooting that left a 17-year-old girl and two adults dead Thursday at a home in Lakewood was a murder-suicide, City Councilmember Todd Rogers said.

Rogers did not provide additional details about the circumstances that led to the shooting.

Deputies responded at around 7:55 a.m. Thursday to the 5800 block of Lorelei Avenue, near South Street, to reports of an assault with a deadly weapon, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

When deputies arrived, they were met outside the home by a "distraught" woman who was detained for questioning, while inside they found three deceased individuals -- the teenage girl, a man, and a woman, all of whom were believed to be members of the same family, sheriff's Homicide Detective Daniel Vizcarra told reporters at the scene. Their identities were not released, and it was unclear which person was the shooter.

The woman detained did not sustain any injuries and was taken to the Lakewood Sheriff's Station.

Vizcarra said a gun was recovered at the home.

Los Angeles County Fire Department firefighters cleared the location by 8:51 a.m. and did not take anyone to a hospital, a Fire Department spokesman said.

"There is no threat to the public at-large and there is no outstanding suspect," Rogers wrote on social media.

There was no outside threat to the public, Vizcarra said.
