Shirtless Man Wrestles With Homeowner After Invasion, Flees Police In Bluestone Bay: NLPD
NEW LENOX, IL — A man seen shirtless and crawling in woods before entering a home and wrestling with the owner Wednesday afternoon has not been arrested yet, New Lenox Police said Thursday.
The incident unfolded in Bluestone Bay, when police were called to Bluestone Bay and Westwind drives just after 2 p.m. Thursday, police told Patch.
A caller told police that a man with a "ripped shirt was crawling on his hands and knees into the woods," according to the police. Police arrived and saw the man, who then ducked into the woods and took off his shirt.
Police tried to speak with the man, but he fled behind homes on Bimini Lane. At that point, he entered a home through an open garage, and was confronted by the homeowner.
Inside, the homeowner encountered the man in their kitchen. The homeowner's wife said her husband wrestled with the man, before chasing him out to Bluestone Bay Drive.
Police saw the man running down the street, with the homeowner in pursuit.
Officers were able to detain the man, who they said appeared to be having a crisis or medical episode. An ambulance was called to evaluate him, police said. He was taken to Silver Cross Hospital for treatment. He was unable to communicate, police said, and required ongoing medical care.
Due to the circumstances, the man was not arrested at the time. The incident is currently under investigation.
The woman shared on social media that her husband will seek charges of assault and home invasion against the man.
Police did not provide any further information.
