Days after a deadly shooting, the Stanislaus County Sheriff's Department on Tuesday identified the man it believes is responsible and is now searching for him.The sheriff's department described the accused killer as 19-year-old Keyante Aaron Reed, a Black man with black hair and brown eyes. He is around 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighs about 177 pounds.Deputies at 3:56 p.m. Sept. 19 went to a home in the 6100 block of Claus Road south of California Street in the city of Riverbank for a report of a shooting, the sheriff's department said. There, they found 41-year-old Markesse W. Owens, who had multiple gunshot wounds.Despite attempts to give medical aid, the sheriff's department said Owens died of his injuries at the scene. While securing the scene, deputies found two children inside the home. Both children were unharmed and removed from the home.After investigating, the sheriff's department said detectives identified Reed as the shooter and issued a warrant for his arrest in connection with the attack.Reed's whereabouts are unknown, the sheriff's department said. Details were not released on whether Reed and Owens knew each other prior to the shooting. It is also not known what led to the attack.Anyone with information is asked to call Det.
