Romeoville police shooting: Samer Hernandez-Abdallah sentenced to 120 years in prison for 2023 attempted murder of 2 officers

A man has been sentenced to 120 years in prison for the attempted murder of two Romeoville police officers .

In May of 2023, the officers were approaching a stolen vehicle in a Romeoville neighborhood when officials said a suspect fled on foot and opened fire.

Samer Hernandez-Abdallah was accused of firing shots at Romeoville police officers Dominic Thielmann and Francisco Garcia.

Thielmann was hit and hospitalized with severe injuries.

Hernandez-Abdallah was found guilty by a judge back in August. His hefty sentence was handed down on Friday.
