EDGEWATER, MD — An employee stabbed his manager this weekend at an Edgewater burrito restaurant that opened less than two weeks ago, police said.

Officers said the stabbing happened Saturday at Bubbakoo's Burritos, which opened Nov. 6 at 145 Mitchells Chance Road. That's located in the Main Street at South River Colony shopping center.

Authorities said they were called around 1:45 p.m. and learned that a worker had assaulted his manager, a 43-year-old man, with a knife and fled the restaurant.

Police said they rendered medical aid to the victim until medics took him to the University of Maryland R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore.

"We're aware of the serious incident that occurred at our Edgewater franchise location regarding a staff member and manager," a Bubbakoo's spokesperson told Patch in a Monday email. "Our thoughts go out to the team that was involved."

Officers said they found the suspect outside the business and took him into custody.

"We want to thank the staff and first responders for their quick response. We are fully cooperating with local law enforcement to support their investigation," the Bubbakoo's statement said. "We thank everyone for their patience and understanding as we navigate this difficult situation."

Authorities said they arrested Marquette Ball, 29, of Annapolis.
