JOLIET, IL — The Joliet Police Department announced that a previously convicted drunk driver was captured over the weekend for another DUI arrest. The agency announced that Rogelio Ceballos-Garcia was charged with two counts of aggravated DUI, DUI, driving while license revoked, resisting a peace officer, obstructing identification and an outstanding Will County warrant.

He was also cited for operating a motor vehicle with suspended plates for no insurance, expired registration and illegal transportation of alcohol by a driver.

Joliet police spokesman Dwayne English said that on Saturday at 2:35 a.m., an officer on regular patrol in the 800 block of East Jackson Street conducted a traffic stop on a Honda Civic after learning the vehicle's registration was suspended for no insurance.

English said the driver initially provided a fictitious name; however, officers later confirmed his identity as Rogelio Ceballos-Garcia, age 39, of Joliet.

During the traffic stop, officers noticed an open alcohol can inside the vehicle and Ceballos-Garcia admitted to consuming alcohol prior to driving, English pointed out.

Following the field sobriety tests, officers tried to take Ceballos-Garcia into custody. He briefly resisted by tensing his body and tried to walk away before being detained, English indicated in his press release.

Joliet police noted that Ceballos-Garcia was driving on a revoked license stemming from a prior DUI conviction and he had an active Will County warrant for failing to appear in court on a previous aggravated fleeing and eluding charge.

Ceballos-Garcia was processed at the Joliet Police Department and released on a notice to appear in court. His vehicle was towed from the scene.
