Racist, antisemitic graffiti found at Roxborough High School

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) - Racist and antisemitic graffiti, including swastikas, was discovered overnight on the exterior of Roxborough High School, prompting a police investigation and messages of support for students.

State Rep. Tarik Khan said the graffiti was painted late Saturday night, calling the act "cowardice" and stressing it does not reflect the Roxborough community.

In a letter sent to families, Principal Kristin Williams Smalley said the graffiti was "deeply disappointing" and confirmed that the Philadelphia Police Department is investigating alongside the School District of Philadelphia's Office of School Safety.

The principal emphasized the district's zero tolerance policy for harassment, hate speech, and discrimination, stating that allegations including antisemitism, Islamophobia, and racist speech are taken seriously and investigated with student and staff well being prioritized.

Community members gathered outside the school Sunday to write messages of love and inclusion on the school's sidewalks.

The investigation remains ongoing.
