A man armed with a knife was shot during a police-involved shooting in Queens on Monday morning, the NYPD said.
Police responded to a 911 call for reports of an emotionally disturbed person on Parsons Boulevard in Briarwood.
Upon arrival, NYPD officers encountered a man with a knife. Officers shot the man, who was then taken to the hospital for treatment. The man's injuries were not immediately considered life-threatening, police said.
Due to the police investigation, officials say people should avoid being in the vicinity of Parsons Boulevard between 84th Drive and 85th Avenue. Commuters should also expect delays and heavy traffic in the surrounding area.
