A police officer was rushed to the hospital after a chase ended in a violent and deadly crash in Alhambra early Thursday morning.
One person was killed and three others were injured, including the police officer, after the pursuit ended in a crash near Valley Boulevard and Edgewood Drive around 3 a.m.
The chase started at Valley and Fremont Avenue, but it's unclear what prompted it.
A witness, who did not wish to be identified, said he heard a loud crash and saw three cars involved, including a patrol unit. He said a woman was ejected from her car and died at the scene, and her male passenger was also injured.
The witnesses added the driver of another car was also injured.
The officer was taken to L.A. General Medical Center and was reportedly unconscious. Additional details about their condition, or the other victims, were not available.
Several streets were shut down near the crash site.
The California Highway Patrol is assisting Alhambra police with the investigation.
