Philadelphia student arrested at Thomas Alva Edison High School after allegedly bringing gun, narcotics to first day of classes

A high-school student was arrested on Monday for allegedly bringing a gun and narcotics to the first day of school.

The student, a 17-year-old, was taken into custody around 8:50 a.m. after police responded to Thomas Alva Edison High School in the 100 block of West Luzerne Street.

Police say they recovered a silver handgun, as well as narcotics.

No other information has been released at this time. The investigation is ongoing.
