Philadelphia police investigating shooting on SEPTA's Broad Street Line train

Philadelphia police are investigating a shooting on SEPTA's Broad Street Line train.

The incident happened just after 7:30 p.m. Friday at the Girard Station in North Philadelphia.

Officials tell Action News that the person who was shot was taken to Temple University Hospital. There is no word yet on their condition.

According to SEPTA, the individual who fired the weapon claims it was an act of self-defense and is currently speaking with police.

The circumstances surrounding the shooting have not been released.

SEPTA says trains are bypassing Girard Station in both directions as the investigation continues.
