One person died after being shot by a deputy in Stockton on Monday morning, according to California Attorney General Rob Bonta. The San Joaquin County Sheriff's Office said the shooting occurred in the area of East Ardelle Avenue and South Walker Lane. Officials said that around 11:14 a.m., an individual believed to be armed with a firearm ran from deputies, which prompted the shooting. That person was taken to an area hospital for treatment, where Bonta's office said he died from his injuries. The sheriff's office did not confirm whether or not the person who was shot was in fact armed. No deputies were injured.The sheriff's office urged the public to stay away from the area as they investigated. The attorney general's office said it would be investigating the shooting.
