Operation Clean Sweep nets guns, drugs and more than 100 arrests in the Philadelphia region

Pennsylvania law enforcement officials on Monday announced results from an ongoing effort to dismantle drug trafficking networks operating between Philadelphia and surrounding counties.

State Attorney General Dave Sunday joined Montgomery County District Attorney Kevin Steele, Bucks County District Attorney Jennifer Schorn and Delaware County District Attorney Jack Stollsteimer to detail "Operation Clean Sweep."

The operation, conducted between September and October, resulted in more than 100 arrests and the seizure of guns and drugs with an estimated street value of more than $365,000.

Law enforcement agencies carried out surveillance, identified dealers and tracked their movements as narcotics were transported to and from Philadelphia.

"We are talking about transports of bulk narcotics from Kensington to Bucks, Delaware, and Montgomery counties where they were then resold on the street," Sunday said.

So far this year, Operation Clean Sweep has removed 50 million doses of fentanyl from Pennsylvania streets.
