JOLIET, IL — Crystal Nagra-Dillon, a 37-year-old Joliet woman, was just released from the Will County Jail on Wednesday night in connection with her New Year's Day arrest by Joliet police. This marks the fifth time Nagra-Dillon was kept in the Will County Jail since mid-April.
According to the Joliet police, on New Year's Day, around 10:15 p.m., officers stopped a Hyundai Sonata in the 1500 block of West Jefferson Street for driving without headlights.
Officers identified a rear passenger as Cynthia Nagra-Dillon. The driver was identified as Charles Stokes, 35, Joliet. According to Joliet police spokesman Dwayne English, during the traffic stop, officers observed open alcohol inside the vehicle. A subsequent search of the vehicle resulted in the recovery of suspected crack cocaine and a suspected Adderall pill from the area where Dillon-Nagra had been seated in the rear of the vehicle. She was then placed into custody.
After being handcuffed, Dillon-Nagra became irate and is accused of kicking an officer, English pointed out. She is also accused of pushing an officer who was attempting to place her into a squad car. Officers later learned that Dillon-Nagra was on pre-trial release related to a previous criminal charge.
Dillon-Nagra was charged with possession of a controlled substance, two counts of aggravated battery to a peace officer, resisting/obstructing a peace officer and violation of pre-trial release. As for Stokes, the driver, he was cited for improper lighting, operation of an uninsured motor vehicle, no seat belt and transportation of open alcohol by the driver.
He was released at the scene, and the vehicle was towed. Stokes was also booked into the Will County Jail for unrelated criminal charges back in November and August. He comes from the 1500 block of Joliet's Sugar Ford Way.
As for Dillon-Nagra, she resides in the 0 to 100 block of Joliet's Salem Drive House.
