One man killed in shooting at Omaha public housing apartment; the suspect taken into custody injured

One man was shot and killed at a public housing apartment complex in Omaha on Sunday evening.Authorities said shortly after 6 p.m., officers responded to a 'shots fired' call near Browne Street and Florence Boulevard. Investigators said when they arrived, they could hear gunshots taking place inside the residence.Officers said the gunshots took place on the sixth floor, and when they arrived on the floor, they saw a man who appeared to be deceased.Omaha Police Deputy Chief Steve Cervency said the gunfire continued, and officers returned fire, while giving commands to the suspect. Authorities said the suspect was taken into custody, but was transported to the hospital with serious injuries, he's expected to survive. Police have not said what led to the suspect getting hurt.Omaha police said one officer did sustain a minor injury. It's unclear what led to the officer getting hurt.
