
An Omaha mother is speaking out after losing her son, 27-year-old Leonard Jones II, to gun violence, days after Jones's 3-month-old daughter died of spontaneous intestinal perforation.PREVIOUS COVERAGE: Omaha police identify 27-year-old man who died in shooting early Wednesday morningHis mother, Tawana Robinson, says she hopes Omaha police can find the person of interest in her son's killing, 32-year-old Ricardo Kirk. Robertson told police that Kirk is a cousin of the family. Authorities confirmed they are following leads on Kirk's whereabouts."It's not fair. My loving child is gone because is an ignorant person that's hurting and don't know how to deal with it," Robinson said. "I raised him as brothers. I mean, more than just cousins ... he took, he took advantage of the trust my son had for him."Just days before the killing, Jones and his girlfriend, Bridgette Clements, lost their second child to sudden intestinal perforation. "He said, 'Baby, I know she's only been here for three months, but she made me a better person,'" Clements said about Jones. "He had to go with her because he couldn't lose her."Omaha police are asking that anyone with information about Kirk's whereabouts call Crimestoppers at 402-444-STOP. They are offering a $25,000 reward for tips that lead to an arrest or charges in a homicide.Now, the family is planning two funerals for losses they never anticipated.
