New York Jets cornerback Kris Boyd is in critical condition after being shot in Manhattan early Sunday morning.
The shooting happened around 2 a.m. on West 38th street in Midtown, according to the NYPD.
Upon arrival, officers found the 29-year-old Jets player with a gunshot wound to the abdomen. First responders transported Boyd to Bellevue Hospital, where he is currently listed in critical condition.
The New York Jets issued the following statement following the shooting: "We are aware of the situation involving Kris Boyd and will have no further comment at this time."
There are currently no arrests, but police say they are looking for a man who fled in a blue BMV in connection to the shooting. The relationship between the victim and the suspect is unclear at this time.
Authorities are now trying to determine what led up to the shooting.
