Newburgh boy killed: 13-year-old charged with murder in 11-year-old's death in Orange County
A 13-year-old boy has been arrested and charged with murder after the death of an 11-year-old boy in Newburgh on Thursday morning.
Despite initial reports that the 11-year-old was playing with a gun when it went off -- accidentally shooting himself -- officials said Friday that a 13-year-old friend killed the boy.
Police said during their investigation they recovered a gun and three juveniles of interest were identified.
The 13-year-old was arrested and now faces second degree murder charges.
The circumstances surrounding the shooting are not yet known.
