Law enforcement officials say shots were fired when U.S. marshals were attempting to take a suspect into custody in Newark on Monday.
It happened at 445 Irvine Turner Boulevard around 11 a.m.
Officials say the suspect was wanted out of Hillside on a charge of attempted murder.
Authorities said shots were fired from the house at the marshals and Newark police, prompting law enforcement to back up and evacuate neighboring homes.
Law enforcement says the man barricaded himself.
Few other details were released.
