Police are working around the clock to find the person who pulled the trigger, who is still at large.

Eyewitness News obtained new images of the person police are trying to track down.

They believe he may be behind the violence Sunday morning.

The man was last seen wearing a black cap, black sweatshirt, black pants, multi-colored sneakers and carrying a black book bag.

Around 2 a.m. Sunday , a verbal dispute turned violent as the NFL player was leaving a popular midtown Asian Fusion restaurant on West 38th Street.

When cops arrived, Boyd had a gunshot wound to the abdomen and was rushed to Bellevue Hospital.

It's still unclear of the relationship if any between the gunman and Boyd.

For some people Eyewitness News we spoke with, they are disturbed to see violence spill onto city streets.

"It's pretty horrifying," one person said. "And it's sad that, you know, such a great place like Manhattan, these things happen."

"He's a home athlete. He represents the city. It's unfortunate to be caught up in a situation like that," another person said.

As many in the NFL react to this devastating situation, teammate and friend Jermaine Johnson took to social media writing in part, "Everybody please send prayers to my brother and teammate Kris Boyd and his family!"

The Jets also released a brief statement saying they're aware of the situation involving Boyd, but did not provide further details.

If anyone has any information, you are asked to call police.

Boyd, a cornerback, is in his first season with the Jets after signing a one-year, $1.6 million contract in free agency, but hasn't played after suffering a season-ending shoulder injury in the preseason.

He was a seventh-round draft pick of the Minnesota Vikings in 2019. He spent four seasons with the Vikings before playing for the Arizona Cardinals and Houston Texans.
