Mother Drives Over Child At Union County School, Police Say
UNION TOWNSHIP, NJ - An eight-year-old boy was taken to the hospital Thursday morning after his mother hit him with her car while in the student drop-off line.
At around 8:15 a.m., she was driving her Subaru outside of Battle Hill Elementary School when she ran over the child's foot and injured his ankle. He was taken to Overlook Medical Center in Summit for treatment.
"This has nothing to do with the safety of transportation around our schools in Union Township. I know some parents may see this and be worried, but this was just an unfortunate accident on the first day of school," adds Union Township Police Captain Pietro Digena.
No charges are pending in this case.
