Mother accused of killing two children, injuring two others in Brazoria County, Texas shooting: sheriff

A mother accused of shooting four of her children in a car early Saturday has been charged, the Brazoria County, Texas Sheriff's Office said.

Deputies said they responded to a gas station near Angleton just before 5 a.m. after the mother called saying she needed them at the location. When deputies arrived, they reportedly found four children with gunshot wounds.

Investigators said the suspected shooter is the children's mother, 31-year-old Oninda Romelus. The Brazoria County Sheriff's Office says there is evidence showing that the shooting happened inside the car. Romelus was the driver, investigators say, but they have not shared where the shooting happened, whether it was at the gas station or at a different location.

Romelus is charged with two counts of murder and two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Her bond has been set at $14 million.

The investigation is active and ongoing.
