Midtown police-involved shooting: Off-duty officer shoots man during attempted robbery at New York Penn Station

An off-duty officer shot a suspect who allegedly tried to rob her and a man while boarding an LIRR train at Penn Station in Midtown Manhattan on Wednesday, according to officials.

Police say a couple, a man and woman, boarding the LIRR train between tracks 18 and 19, were on their way home when the suspect tried to rob them.

The woman, an off-duty officer, then took matters into her own hands and shot the suspect, according to police.

The suspect was taken to Bellevue Hospital and is expected to be OK.

No one else was injured.

Police say it appeared that the incident may have started on the train and then spilled out on the platform.

There are currently no service delays.
