JOLIET, IL — The Joliet Police Department made many arrests last weekend and one of the people was captured at the former Evergreen Terrace public housing projects. Joliet police said that 53-year-old Billy Nash Jr. was charged with being armed habitual criminal, unlawful use of a weapon by felon, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon and an assortment of other crimes.
Nash wound up in the Will County Jail following the arrest.
According to police agency spokesman Dwayne English, on Saturday, September 27, at 11:25 p.m., the officers responded to Riverwalk Homes Apartments at 362 North Broadway Street for a man with a gun.
Officers were provided a description of the man as they responded. At the Riverwalk Homes, the officers spotted a man in the parking lot that matched the description of the person that was allegedly carrying a handgun.
Upon search of Nash, he was found to be in possession of a handgun loaded with an extended magazine. Nash was placed into custody without incident, English relayed.
The handgun was determined to be a "ghost" gun, bearing no serial number, he pointed out.
