Man steals taxi in Manhattan, hits cyclist and flees, NYPD says

Police on Friday said they were looking for a man who stole a yellow cab in Manhattan on Thursday night and struck and injured a cyclist.

The incident started around 9:15 near East 33rd Street and First Avenue in Kips Bay, according to NYPD officials. They said the taxi was unattended when the man got in and drove to Second Avenue, where he struck a 27-year-old cyclist.

Officials said the cyclist sustained minor injuries and refused medical attention. The man allegedly jumped out of the taxi and fled the scene on foot.
