Man shot while driving in Philadelphia's Frankford section; suspect at large
A man is recovering after being shot multiple times in a daytime shooting in Philadelphia's Frankford neighborhood, and police are still searching for the suspect and the vehicle involved.
The shooting happened around 12:20 p.m. Monday near the intersection of Torresdale Avenue and Auth Street, where investigators say the gunfire occurred in the middle of the roadway. It remains unclear whether the incident was an instance of road rage.
A witness described the moment shots rang out.
"So we were sitting outside, next thing you know we hear about eight gunshots and we all ran," the witness said.
"Broad daylight -- it's people, kids walking from school. It's pretty scary."
According to officers at the scene, a dark-colored sedan was driving erratically behind a white pickup truck. Police said the driver of the sedan then reportedly drove into opposing traffic lanes, pulled up next to the truck, and shot the driver before speeding away.
Police continue to search for the sedan and the suspect.
Action News reached out to the towing company associated with the victim's truck, which said it had no comment at this time.
Police said the investigation remains ongoing.
