A man shot last week in Sacramento County has died, officials said Monday.Deputies were dispatched at 12:15 p.m. on Aug. 12 to Morse Avenue and Lerwick Road in the Arden-Arcade area. Upon arrival, a man was found with at least one gunshot wound to the head, the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office said. The man was taken to a nearby hospital in critical condition.Detectives determined the man was sitting in the back of a vehicle when the suspect, 46-year-old Jason Hankins, conducted a drive-by shooting, striking the man once in the head, the sheriff's office said. Hankins was arrested and the firearm, which he tried to hide in his vehicle, was found by deputies. Hankins was booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail for attempted murder. He remains in custody and is ineligible for bail. The charges against Hankins will be amended following the death of the victim, the sheriff's office said.
