Man killed in officer-involved shooting in Gary, Indiana at 2544 Connecticut Street, police say

Gary police officers were involved in a deadly shooting on Wednesday night.

The shooting happened as police responded to a call of domestic battery at about 8:40 p.m. in the 2500-block of Connecticut Street.

When officers arrived, a 24-year-old man exited the house with a gun, police said.

Officers then started to shoot at the 24-year-old.

He was taken to Methodist Northlake Hospital where he died.

A 57-year-old man was taken to an area hospital due to injuries allegedly caused by the 24-year-old.

The Lake County Sheriff's Department is investigating the incident.

No officers were injured; those involved will be placed on administrative leave.

"The Gary Police Department extends sincere condolences to everyone affected by this incident," a spokesperson said.
