Philadelphia police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a man who was found unresponsive in an Ogontz home with three dogs that had been shot.
Officers were called to the 1900 block of Medary Avenue just after 6:30 p.m. Friday.
They found the man unresponsive with a bite mark on his ankle, authorities said. Paramedics rushed him to a hospital, where he later died.
The cause of death of the 53-year-old homeowner remains under investigation.
There were a total of four pit bulls inside the home, police said.
While three of them had been shot to death, a fourth dog was apparently unharmed in a cage in the bathroom.
Animal control officers carried the puppy out of the home to safety.
A gun was found at the home, but police said it's unclear if that was the weapon used to shoot the three dogs.
