Man detained after suspected DUI crash flips SUV in Madera County, CHP says

A suspected DUI crash caused an SUV to flip onto its side in Madera on Friday afternoon.

It happened just after 1 p.m. at H and 4th streets.

The CHP says the driver was passing traffic on the wrong side of the road when they tried to merge onto Highway 99.

They say that's when the driver lost control, overturned and collided with a chain link fence.

Investigators say two people were in the car and one of them tried to run away but was quickly detained.

Officers are reminding all residents to prepare for holiday parties now.
