LONG ISLAND, NY — A 26-year-old man was attacked and cut by a screwdriver-wielding robber on William Floyd Parkway in Shirley early Tuesday morning, Suffolk police said.
The man was walking along the parkway in Shirley at around 12:30 a.m., when he was approached by another man who waved a screwdriver at him and demanded his property, according to police.
The man, who is from Shirley, shoved the suspect, and he was "nicked in the neck" with the screwdriver before the suspect bolted with no proceeds, police said, adding that the man was treated for non-life-threatening injuries at NYU Langone Hospital – Suffolk in East Patchogue.
The 7th Squad in Shirley is investigating the case.
